Brands from every corner of the MI industry are making new product announcements before the NAMM show kicks off in Anaheim next week, and today, Sandberg Guitars is getting into the mix, releasing information on what fans can expect to see on offer in 2020.
Brand-new for this year is the 30-inch short-scale Lionel Bass, which will brings the Sandberg sound into a more petite package, more comfortable and with better balance for players with smaller hands or who are just fans of the short-scale style. The basses will be passive, with a classic split-coil pickup, and will be available in both matte and aged finishes.
Sandberg is also offering a slew of updated models to already-existing popular product lines. The SuperLight series is getting another entry—the California TT4 SuperLight, with a Roasted Maple neck—featuring an ultra-lightweight Paulownia body, which produces sonic qualities similar to swamp ash.
The new Nighthawk Plus models—available in metallic finishes like Inca Silver, Copper, or Dark Grey—will be an upgrade from the Nighthawk series and will see Sandberg's Black Label pickups and preamp, a blacked-out headstock, black hardware, and an anodized aluminum pickguard.
Lastly, the California VM5 will now include Aguilar Electronics—the OBP-2 preamp, a AG 5P 60s split-coil pickup in the neck, and an AG 5M in the bridge.
These new basses will be on display at NAMM and will be available to the public starting January 14. For more coverage from the NAMM floor, click the orange banner below to follow along.
