Moog announced today that the Drummer From Another Mother (DFAM) will be heading to regular production. The Eurorack-compatible synth was originally unveiled in May at Moogfest 2017 as part of a workshop in which attendees were able to build the unit alongside Moog engineers.
In many ways, the DFAM can be viewed as a counterpart to the popular Mother-32 semi-modular synth. Both units can function as both standalone units or as part of larger modular system.
Compared to the Mother-32, however, the DFAM emphasizes percussive synthesis and is built around a sequence with eight individually adjustable steps. Paired with a classic Moog synth architecture, the DFAM is as close to a conventional drum machine as Moog has ever made.
The DFAM includes one white noise generator, two oscillators with square and triangle waveforms, and one external audio input. It features a 10-octave range, a 24-point patchbay, and VCO, VCF, and VCA envelope generators.
