Korg Announces New Limited Edition Kronos SE and Krome EX for NAMM 2019

Korg made a big announcement on Monday, unveiling the new expanded Minilogue model, Volca Drum Digital, and Volca Modular Micro, right in time for the NAMM show next week. You can read more about those releases and see them in action here. But that wasn't all Korg had in its pocket to announce before the annual convention. Today, the brand has announced another two keyboards that will be joining the 2019 lineup.

First up is a limited-edition variant of the brand’s popular Kronos workstation dubbed the Kronos SE. New features include the addition of a standard Italian piano PCM based on the Korg Grandstage, paired with the release of the “KApro Showcase” sound library—replete with over 100 titles for composing and performing music.

Kronos SE

Construction-wise, the Kronos SE features the brand's signature high-impact front panel but it's finished in a special edition red and black Sunburst color variation. The SE will be available in later this month in three key configurations: 61 (for $3,099), 73 (for $3,499), and 88 (for $3,799).

Korg also announced the brand-new Krome EX—"a sonic renewal of the classic keyboard with an updated sound set to support performance and production of modern electronic genres." With an extended user bank featuring over 1,500 programs and 700 multi-sound setups, you can be sure that the EX also features a wide variety of go-to sounds, like classic acoustic and electric pianos, drums, special effects, synths, and more.

Krome EX

The Krome EX retains its streamlined design, with the easy-to-navigate full-color touchscreen and sleek, slate gray aluminum panel. "The EX delivers even greater diversity that is sure to appeal to a very wide base of producers and performers," said James Sajeva, Korg's Director of Music Technology Brands. "It’s all about delivering the very best sounds in the familiar format that has made KROME so successful."

The Krome EX will also be available in three key configurations—61, 73, and 88—but pricing is still TBD.
