Gibson Reveals Semi-Hollow Version of Controversial Modern Double Cut

Around this time last year, a set of images of a new solidbody Gibson guitar began to circulate which would eventually be revealed as the Gibson Modern Double Cut. The model caught the imagination of the online guitar community and sparked an extensive debate around the perceived merits and flaws of the design.

And now, a year later, Gibson has unveiled a new variation on the model dubbed the "Semi-Hollow Modern Double Cut."

Shared via a post on the Gibson Custom Shop Instagram account, the guitar will be available in "four pearlescent colors" and is "Gibson's first ever 24-fret semi-hollowbody." The post also indicates that the guitar will carry the same price tag as its solidbody counterpart at $3,999 USD.

The new guitar is likely to be showcased at the CES show in Las Vegas which starts this coming week. Notably, however, Gibson and its family of brands will not be participating in the NAMM show in Anaheim, CA which kicks off later this month.
