We often highlight the coolest vintage instruments on our site, closet finds in pristine condition or player-grade gems with the perfect amount of natural relic'ing. In the parlance of gear conditions, they usually fall somewhere between "very good" or "excellent."
Here, we're taking a different route. If a tape machine, microphone, or guitar just doesn't work, sellers will list it as "non-functioning." But many of these busted goods would make great projects: whether you restore them to their former glory, use them as parts donors, or just show them off as cool studio decor.
Below, we've compiled some of our favorite would-be projects or would-be wall art.
