Fender has announced today that it is in the final processes of acquiring music technology company PreSonus. Though the merger is still subject to regulatory approval and closing conditions, the brands have signed a "definitive agreement" that more or less has sealed the deal.
Originally founded in 1995, PreSonus is known for making what Fender doesn't—affordable and popular audio interfaces, mixers, MIDI controllers, outboard gear, the Studio One DAW, and more—which definitely makes this an appealing merger for the bigger brand.
"We are thrilled to welcome everyone on the PreSonus team to the FMIC family and excited about the future growth opportunities available to both companies," said Fender CEO Andy Mooney. "Our teams share the same passion for music, the same commitment to innovation and the same desire to inspire and equip current and future generations of artists."
Meanwhile, the CEO of PreSonus, Jim Boitnott, and Chairman Kevin Couhig also see the merge as an exciting opportunity for the music tech company as well. Couhig thanked the community of Baton Rouge for two decades of continued PreSonus support, while Boitnott emphasized that Fender is the "right partner" to support the smaller brand as they continue to grow. "We look forward to showing our current and future music community what this opportunity means for them," he said.
Keep your eyes peeled for more information in the coming months about how this merger will affect the brands' offerings. You can also read Fender's full statement about the merge here.
