Fender announced on Tuesday the release of a new Brad Paisley signature Telecaster as part of its MIM Road Worn series. The guitar is based on a specific '64 Tele in Paisley's personal collection and recreates its unique sparkle finish with a custom silver paisley pickguard.
Per Paisley's request, the guitar features an "Enhanced V" neck profile as well as a '64–style Tele pickup at the bridge.
A noted guitar collector and slinger, Paisley usually plays a mix of vintage Fenders and custom Crook Guitars on the road. While this guitar marks his first official Fender model, news of the collaboration has been circulating for some time.
In fact, in a video interview released by Reverb last year, Paisley indicated an upcoming signature model with Fender was in the works. This guitar appears to be final manifestation of that process.
As you can see in the video above, though, the most important part of this guitar for Brad was to create an instrument to inspire younger players. It's a guitar that's designed to be played, not placed on a collector's pedestal. As Paisley puts it, "It's a cutting board. You could chop vegetables on the back and then play it."
