Claudio Sanchez of the progressive rock band Coheed and Cambria is releasing a new, full-production model of his custom Jackhammer guitar. The new Jackhammer signature guitar will be released under the Evil Instruments brand name and is made with the help of Dunable, which is handling production.
The new Jackhammer model is a recreation of a custom instrument that was built for Sanchez by his guitar tech, Kevin Allen, and gets its name from The Amory Wars comic book series created by Sanchez and Chondra Echert. The Jackhammer's distinctive, edgy body shape looks like a hardcore mashup of an Explorer, SG, and Dunable Gnarwhal. Now, fans have the chance to get their own, standard version of Sanchez's custom instrument—and they have two spec tiers to choose from.
The model we have pictured here is made in South Korea and is available in either Black Gloss or Vintage White Gloss finishes with a mahogany body and neck or in a natural finish with a five-piece laminated walnut/maple body and neck. The rest of the import model specs are the same, no matter the finish, and include:
- Ebony fingerboard
- Pearl lid block inlay
- Closed back tuners
- Tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece
- Alnico V humbuckers (10k/12k)
- 2 volume, 1 tone, 3-way pickup selector
- Gloss finish
- Evil Instruments hard case

Players can also opt for the USA-made variation, which are built in Los Angeles and have some spec upgrades. These include a five-piece laminated mahogany/maple body and neck, Mother of Pearl inlays, Grover Rotomatic 18:1 tuners and Grover Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge and stop tailpiece, Bareknuckle pickups, satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, and a Gator hardshell case.
Pricing on both models is currently to be announced, so we will update this post with more information as we have it. To make sure you stay in the know about the model, add your email address to the sign-up box above to be the first to know when the guitar is available.
