Boss is commemorating 40 years of its iconic pedal line with a limited edition reissue of its first three compact pedals: the OD–1 Overdrive, PH–1 Phaser, and the rare SP–1 Spectrum. The trio will be packaged in a single box with a limited release of 1,500 sets.
Much like their original versions, these reissues will be assembled in Japan and handwired. Their circuits will remain virtually identical to the originals.
It’s clear, though, that Boss doesn’t just envision these as collector’s items, with the company modernizing the pedals ever so slightly for today’s player. Each pedal has been modified with LED status lights, snapping battery clips, and to accept PSA standard power.
Boss’s compact pedal line might just be the most iconic line of guitar effects to ever exist, and a Boss compact pedal has likely graced just about every pedalboard in the world.
The line of reissues is not just a little tribute to Boss’s place of prominence in the pedal world, but an acknowledgement of the fact that those three early designs are some of the company’s finest and, to this day, most sought–after.
