About this listing
The Fender Twin 5E8-A, affectionately known as the "high-powered Tweed Twin" is one of the most sought after Fender amps in history. With only a production between late 1957 to late 1959, it is estimated that only about 700 of these were made - and not many have survived. Original vintage units are exceptionally rare and command high values (often ranging from roughly $11,000 to over $27,000 depending on originality and condition). Replicas and DIY builds are also available through providers like the Mojotone Tweed Twin 5F8-A High Power Style Guitar Tube Amp Kit. We have often seen these majestic beauties with re-covered cabs, and many with reproduction replacement cabs. But this one still has its original tweed! At one point, someone had painstakingly removed a large amount of "rattle can" black on there, as it was per custom in the early 60's to match the "new models". The cabinet still sports its original Fender Twin Amp logo. As you can see there is still some black paint present that can still be removed. The upper back panel has no tweed on it, but the lower panel does (as you can see in the pictures). This one also sports the original P12N speakers, a matching original set dated the 16th week of 1958, with the original bell covers and stickers. The original tube chart is still present. A new leather handle has been added. This would make the perfect partner to complete an abandoned original chassis and certainly bring back its value, or this would make a fun project for someone that wants to mount a newer Twin build (and still have that outward mojo on stage).
