Mason & Risch Upright Piano from late 1890s.
This piano was appraised at $10-12,000 USD (restored) within the last 10 years.
Piano came with a house my dad bought in 1999 and stayed in the same place for years before we moved it to my mothers house around 2010. It’s serial number is 559 (almost impossible to find info on the serial numbers before they went to above 4 digits) We had it appraised, tuned, and cleaned up. Back in the 1900s It was customary for the first maintenance guy to sign his initials inside the piano after maintenance was complete. The initials are QW, the same as mine. We thought this was a strange sign that the piano belonged in the family. Lindeblad pianos online estimate current value for a fully restored (desirable) Mason & Risch piano to be about $18,500 USD.
It is heavy as hell and hard to move. My Mother and Step Father are moving to a smaller home and want to sell. I live in a different city and don’t have room at my house to keep the piano. It could use some love and be sold for a good price or it could be a great collector piece for any home. I have no clue how the shipping process would work but if someone decides to buy we will make arrangements and come to a price agreement for the piano. Otherwise, Hopefully you’re located in Canada and you can rent a truck to just pick it up.
Please feel free to contact me if you know anything more about this piano. Contact me to make an offer or if you are local and want to see it.
This piano has history and a book of stories to tell, looks great in a home office or studio, so much mojo even as it sits now, we’ve mic’d it up and it records beautifully (it could now use a tuning again but it all functions properly)
Cheers!
