About This Listing

This is a Big Muddy M-2 mandolin with wide neck. Hand crafted by Mike Dulak at his shop in Missouri from all solid tonewoods.  It has maple back and sides and a spruce top. Nice bit of flame to the back. The wide models have African Blackwood fretboard and bridge.

The tone is rich, clear, and quite loud. I've always liked the open, big sound of a folk mando with a soundhole. The maple does give it a pronounced top end, but it's not at all shrill.

The neck is 1-1/4" at the nut. Very easy playing action. I am a guitar player and the "standard" mandolin dimensions are just too tiny for me to play comfortably. This is a nice fit. The slightly wider string spacing and chunkier neck make it quite comfy for me to play.

Open back tuners in gold with pearloid buttons; they hold tune very well.

Mike also installed a K&K Mandolin Twin pickup.

Comes with a leather strap and a TKL soft gig bag. And a set of 11's.

Please feel free to ask any questions, and please visit Big Muddy's website for more information on his mandolins and mandolas.
