Moog E-1 electromagnetic infinite sustainer guitar - Candy Apple Red

Incredible guitar with pickups and electronics designed by Paul Vo and Moog. This one is a hardtail model. I would describe it as a Sustainiac on steroids – some of the coolest differences are that it has a mode that can sustain all the strings simultaneously, and you can shift the harmonic being sustained on-the-fly using the foot pedal or one of the knobs on the guitar. It was a holy grail of sorts to me and I’m only selling it because I bought a custom-made guitar that also has Moog E-1 pickups and electronics.

Includes the necessary control pedal and correct power adapter, a 5-pin XLR cable for connecting the guitar to the pedal, and a new Gator GTSA-GTRELEC hardshell case (which is a great fit for the guitar).

The guitar is in great condition and the Candy Apple Red finish is stunning. There are a few tiny dings in the paint on the side of the body, near the knobs and output jacks. There’s also a tiny, shallow divot at the outer tip of the rear of the headstock. I’ve photographed these spots to the best of my ability. The body has various light surface scratches from normal usage of the guitar. They’re practically invisible unless light is at just the right angle. There’s one spot between the pickups where the scratches are slightly deeper, which I have photographed.

It was recently given a setup by Chris Forshage (of Forshage Guitars) with Ernie Ball Slinky Cobalt 10-46 strings. These strings (as well as a few other types) are highly recommended for use with this guitar because of their stronger magnetic interaction and higher output level, which work well with the sustainer. They’re similar to the original Moog strings, which are now discontinued.

In the Full Sustain mode, you can sustain notes on multiple strings simultaneously. In Controlled Sustain mode, only the loudest string will sustain. There’s also a Mute mode that gives notes and chords a staccato quality. Additionally, there’s a resonant Moog filter that can be controlled with a potentiometer on the guitar, the pedal controller (with the pedal itself or by CV input), or by envelope follower (directly from the dynamics of your playing). The guitar also has piezo saddles with their own separate 1/4" output jack, and their signal can also be blended with the main signal from the pickups.
