Made in Japan licensed re-issue of the 60s classic. My best guess is that it was made about the year 2000, but can't confirm. I have had it for 10 years +. These guitars, and the The Ventures are still popular in Japan. Mosrite pickups and vibrato. It does say Vibramute on tailpiece. Plays an sounds like the original. Lightly played, some chips, but no fret wear. Probably made out of basswood. I bought the guitar from Japan, and the Mosrite case from Ed Roman in Las Vegas. Weight is 9.4 pounds
