Vanborn Vintage Guitars Presents…
An exceptionally rare opportunity to acquire one of the earliest documented Rebel Relic pedal prototypes.
Built in 2024 by Rebel Relic founder Luke Whitfield in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, this Rebel Bender Prototype #2 represents one of the very first steps in Rebel Relic's expansion from world-renowned boutique guitars into the world of premium vintage-inspired effects pedals.
Inspired by the legendary Tone Bender MkII, the Rebel Bender takes the classic British formula as its starting point before pushing it into more "Supercharged" territory. The result is a pedal capable of delivering everything from rich, sustaining lead tones to thick, harmonically complex textures with outstanding touch sensitivity and dynamic response.
What makes this pedal particularly special is its place in the development history of Rebel Relic. This is Prototype #2 and features an early proof-of-concept enclosure used during the design phase. Rather than being a production die-cast housing, this enclosure was handmade and created to evaluate the overall aesthetic, ergonomics, and concept before final manufacturing methods were established.
Included is the original Certificate of Authenticity which is the actual enclosure design documentation and build plan used during development (signed by Luke), providing a fascinating insight into the creative process behind the project and making it an important part of the pedal's provenance.
The interior of the pedal is personally signed by Luke Whitfield
In keeping with the spirit of the original vintage Tone Benders that inspired it, the Rebel Bender operates exclusively from an internal 9V battery. There is no external DC power input, preserving both the vintage concept and the straightforward functionality of the classic units.
Condition is excellent and the pedal functions as intended by Luke.
With Rebel Relic recently announcing that only a limited number of guitars remain to be built (the Final 100, as of June 2026), early experimental pieces such as this prototype are becoming increasingly significant. This pedal represents the beginning of a different chapter for the company, translating the Rebel Relic philosophy of vintage character, premium craftsmanship, and modern reliability into the world of effects.
Whether you're a collector of rare boutique gear, a Rebel Relic enthusiast, or a player searching for a truly unique fuzz with genuine historical significance, opportunities to acquire pieces like this are exceptionally rare.
