Lifton has been making cases for Gibson instruments since 1918. This one is their Historic series — a deliberate recreation of the brown Tolex, pink plush cases that shipped with Les Pauls in the 1950s and ‘60s. If you’ve ever seen a vintage ’burst in its original case, you know exactly what this looks like. This case is essentially brand new, smells new and remains in mint condition
The details are all there: mottled brown Tolex exterior, lush pink interior lining, the distinctive C-shaped handle, five vintage-style latches including one that locks. Even the accessory compartment has a ribbon pull-tab, just like the originals. Internal dimensions are fitted specifically for a 50s Les Paul Standard, and it accommodates most Les Paul Standards and Customs.
This is the case that belongs under a Murphy Lab, a Custom Historic, or any Les Paul you care enough about to store properly. Gibson retails it at $349 and it’s sold out on their site. These don’t sit around.
