Holmes H-X1 Super Phase Eight Stage Owned and Used by Tom Verlaine Model Phaser Effect, c. 1980's, made in Japan, black and orange finish, aluminum. Made in Japan in the 1980s, the Holmes H-X1 is a now-discontinued and fairly rare 8-stage analog phaser pedal. With three standard controls, it is simple but boasts a wide range of tones, from subtle phasing to lush and frenetic movements. This is in part due to the feedback control, which feeds the wet signal back into the circuit for more variation and constructive interference in the phasing effect, and the additional filtering stages.

This phaser lived for much of its life in the posession of rock experimentor Tom Verlaine, frontman and guitarist of New York City rock band Television.

Height is 4 3/4 in. (12.1 cm.), 2 3/4 in. (7 cm.) width, and 2 in. (5.1 cm.) in depth at deepest point.

This Super Phase is in largely excellent condition with minimal, purely cosmetic shows of use here and there in the outer lacquer. The pedal itself is all original and works entirely as it should; the battery cover on the back comes off a little easily, but it seems to be by design. This surely would have pleased Verlaine for whom changing batteries seemed to be the bane of his existence. It resides in its original Holmes box and comes with a letter of authenticity signed by Patrick Derivaz, Verlaine's close friend and long time musical collaborator from whom we received the pedal. Excellent - Condition.
