This Gibson Les Paul Custom is still available for sale. However, I have chosen to remove the previous detailed description because questions were recently raised regarding the guitar’s exact identification, and I do not want to represent it as something it may not be.
Here are the facts as I know them.
I purchased this guitar new more than 30 years ago from George’s Music in Jacksonville Beach, Florida, a long-established and highly reputable music dealer. It has been part of my personal collection ever since. I own a large number of guitars, and this particular instrument has been played very little during my ownership, likely only a handful of times.
To be completely candid, I purchased the guitar because I loved the way it looked, played, and sounded. After all these years, I do not specifically recall what model designation was discussed at the time of purchase.
Recently, I have received differing opinions regarding the guitar’s identity. One perspective suggests that it is a 1977 Les Paul Custom based on the serial number. Another suggests that it may be a 1957 Les Paul Custom Reissue based on certain construction and design features. At this time, I cannot definitively confirm either conclusion.
I am actively seeking additional information, including consulting Gibson and knowledgeable collectors, so that I can determine the guitar’s exact identity as accurately as possible.
My intention is complete transparency. I would never knowingly misrepresent any item I sell, and my reputation is far more important to me than completing a transaction. For that reason, I am presenting the guitar exactly as described above and encouraging potential buyers to conduct their own evaluation based on the photographs and information provided.
If you have any concerns regarding the guitar’s identification, provenance, or originality, I completely understand and encourage you to conduct your own research before purchasing. I have shared all of the information currently available to me and will gladly provide any additional photographs or details that may assist in your evaluation. If there is any uncertainty that makes you uncomfortable, I respectfully ask that you not proceed with the purchase.
I sincerely apologize for any confusion the previous description may have caused and appreciate your understanding as I work to ensure the guitar is represented as accurately and honestly as possible.
