Bay Area Vintage Guitars is pleased to present this 1965 Fender Reverb Unit in very good vintage condition.
Few pieces of vintage guitar equipment are as instantly recognizable—or as influential—as the Fender Reverb Unit. Introduced in the early 1960s, this standalone tube-driven spring reverb became the secret weapon behind countless surf, country, blues, rock, and studio recordings. Long before digital processors and boutique pedals, this was the sound players used to add depth, dimension, and unmistakable Fender ambiance to their amplifiers.
This example is a genuine 1965 Blackface Fender Reverb Unit, with both the tube chart and transformer codes confirming 1965 production. The unit remains exceptionally clean for its age and presents beautifully with its original black tolex, silver sparkle grille cloth, original faceplate, original hardware, original handle, and original Fender logo.
The cabinet is particularly attractive, showing only light cosmetic wear from nearly sixty years of careful ownership. The grille cloth remains clean and bright, the control panel graphics are strong, and the overall appearance is far above average compared to most vintage Fender Reverb Units currently available.
Internally, the unit remains clean and well-maintained, having been gently used since it was cleaned and serviced in 2022.
The original transformer is present, and the circuit shows evidence of responsible servicing over the years. The original reverb tank has been replaced with a high-quality MOD reverb tank, providing dependable operation while preserving the lush, three-dimensional spring reverb sound these units are famous for.
Plugged into a vintage Fender amplifier, Marshall, Vox, boutique amp, or modern pedal platform, this unit delivers the rich harmonic bloom, depth, and texture that made the original Fender Reverb Unit legendary. Many players still consider these standalone units superior to onboard amp reverb circuits and modern pedal recreations.
