Ludwig P-1162-A Super Sensitive Snare Guard for P70 or P-71 Super Sensitive Snare Strainer Throw-Off or Butt side w/Allen screws. (1969 and newer version.) There definitely does appear to be a bend at the end of this piece, it appears perfectly straight and in proper form on the arms that go into the throw-off/butt piece. There are definitely signs of wear such as nicks , scratches, etc., primarily on the end. If I were to guess I would guess that this guard spent its youth as a snare guard on a parade snare based on the signs of wear.
