Vintage 1959 Gibson ES-5 "Switchmaster" in stunning original sunburst finish!
This is a great player's grade ES-5!
The finish on this amazing ES-5 is original throughout with no overspray, cracks, breaks or repairs. It's incredibly clean with only very mild finish checking and minor signs of playwear. This stunning archtop was made during the "late fifites" period - made alongside the now legendary 1959 Les Pauls of the same year!
As pictured, the Serial number A-30335, which shipped in mid 1959, it also has an "S" prefix Factory Order Number, noting a 1959 build. It also has it's original hang-tag - complete with the factory ink-stamped model number, matching serial number and case key!
This one is feather-weight is as you'd expect from the old growth maple of this era - SUPER Light and very resonant.
The parts on this guitar are reproduction, but of the finest quality. A custom "59 replica" trio of PAFs made by Brandonwound Pickups have been installed along with the BWP 59 gold replica covers. These have nearly the exact looks and tone of 1950's PAFs!. The pots are new premium CTS 550k, with Sprague .022mfd tone caps. The best of the best.
This example has it's original 1959 frets. The frets are in fine playing condition and the play-ability is optimal with smooth, even action across the board and excellent intonation.
This is a great chance to get into a golden-era ES-5 from what is the most desirable production year in this model's long and storied history: 1959 The woods are the premium OLD Gibson tone woods - the good stuff which will never return to modern electric guitar production. Priced at far below 50% of an all original example, this is a great vintage value!
