You are viewing an early Breedlove DM Deluxe: D for dread, M for hog, and Deluxe for glossy nitro finish and Adirondack spruce top. This guitar was conceived by Jason Bowerman, aided by Preston Thompson, in a project to compete head-to-head with Martin's own excellent D-18 GE. I believe it is a 1937 or -38 knockoff of the renowned pre-war Martin red spruce topped, all mahogany body and neck, with Grover sta-tites and featuring scalloped forward shifted adi bracing. Not sure how many were made, but they don't come up all that often second hand. I believe they were made by a select group within an already fairly small company of Larry Breedlove and maybe 40 employees, in Bend, Oregon. There is lots of info on the web; interesting concept and product. They are rightly highly regarded, with voiced tops thinned at the margins. The neck is a thicker than modern but very comfortable "C" , ebony board, 1 & 3/4 inch bone nut, bone saddle, both polished. Detailed touches are an angled bottom nut, like the old Martin, and a one piece headstock without "wings" for those who care about such. A close repro, but with the (huge) advantage of a bolt on neck rather than glued in.
I am selling because I have three flattops and hardly play acoustic anymore. I could sell any of them; this one is random choice. It is set up to factory spec except that I have 12's, not 13's on it as I do not have the hand strength to play the suggested gauge. There are pics to show the wide grain lines of red spruce. The guitar shows little wear and sounds beyond excellent, with clear highs and pronounced bass. An ideal bluegrass guitar.
There are other Breedlove Revivals, and I don't doubt they are nice guitars, but those with square headstocks, like this one, are the first run, more coveted models. Included is a real nice 6 latch, 5 ply Martin case, pretty much their best TKL. Very heavy, and, as with every other case I have ever had with a padded leather handle, the leather has come loose at the end. It does't affect the use, but it should be mentioned.
Included is a copy of the production order.
Shipping and insurance to continental US is calculated by Reverb which I do not markup. I do not ship internationally.
