This 1992 Guild ‘Songbird flat-top acoustic/electric was designed by George Gruhn and was in production from 1987-1992. At the time, this guitar design was ground breaking for being an acoustic electric guitar that will not feedback and was one of Guild’s first forays into the then new ‘slim line’ electric/acoustic hybrid era, and they didn’t hold anything back !

The high quality guitar; from the near the end of the production cycle, has been very lightly played and lovingly cherished save for some very minor polishing swirls, with absolutely NO rash to the rear face. The Grover tuners show some very light tarnishing consummate with its age.

This ‘Songbird’ features its original factory-installed Fishman under-saddle piezo pickup and active preamp, the system used in all original 1987–1992 Songbirds. Designed for stage and studio performance, the preamp provides volume and tone control while preserving the guitar’s natural thin-body acoustic resonance. Powered by a 9V battery, the Fishman system delivers smooth, clear, and balanced tone, making this guitar as playable for professional performance as it is collectible.

Designed for backing vocals, not only does this ‘Songbird’ look fabulous; with its warm, smooth sound that compliments the voice so well, the shorter 24.75" scale combined, with the thin "C" profile neck, gives it electric guitar like playability.

A special guitar, certainly for discerning players looking for the combined package of a bold, unique look from the rare near pristine condition, with great rhythm capabilities and tonal qualities.

Currently strung with medium strings (010-.046) this guitar will accommodate lighter or heavier gauge strings, according to preference. String action has been set by our independent luthier, with a comfortable action for rhythm chording and articulated lead lines.

Included with this ‘’Songbird is the original Guild hard-shell fitted case, a piece that is equally rare and nearly impossible to find on the open market. Crafted specifically for the 'Songbird', it features the distinctive 'Guild' logo and high-quality construction typical of Westerly era accessories.
