Autoharp Chromaharp Caroler 27 Chords - Mute Bar - Good Condition

This is a 27-chord Rhythm Band "Caroler" Autoharp in good condition for a 50-year old instrument. As far as I know, this is the most chords one can obtain in a mass-produced autoharp from a known manufacturer, plus it is the only autoharp I know of that comes with a "mute" bar, a chord bar that mutes all the strings, so one doesn't have to resort to the holding down of any three chord bars at once to mute a chord. The instrument will require a small amount of love and care so I don't recommend a beginner to autoharps buy it for reasons stated below.

The Body is in excellent condition - no mold, water damage or woodrot. The chord bars are metal and have some staining as shown in the pictures. Tuning pegs turn easily with a standard Chromharp wrench. Unlike other autoharps, these chord bars are fixed and non-customizable - for this model the chord bars are fully shaped out of metal with a thin amount of felt spread across the top. Buying replacement felt for a Rhythm Band Caroler means sourcing it and cutting it on your own and not buying standard autoharp felt. A few of the chord bars need new felt. I would recommend replacing the full felt on a chord bar and not just the sections as nothing is worse than a chord bar with uneven felts - it doesn't fix the problem. It is also missing three high strings.

Given this, this instrument would be best owned by someone who is already used to tinkering with autoharps and wants to add another unique model to their collection. We already have five autoharps in our house and though I have replaced many strings and felts over the years, I just don't have the time to give this instrument the attention it deserves, so I am selling instead of holding on to it until I retire.
