Vintage Neve 1059 mic preamp modules - Pair

While that listing is still active, I have had several requests for a pair of these amazing modules, so I'm listing a pair! By the way, the price is for the pair, not for each one.

The 1059s in this sale are serial numbers 371 and 372. The photos you see are the exact modules in this listing, including the interior photos. As you can see, the modules are still in their original condition and completely unmodified, and each module includes its original 7525 octal mic transformer as well as its Gardners 7526 octal line transformer. Also on board is the vaulted B104 output stage. Serious reputation overall!

These modules were built by Neve for the console they installed at Konk Studios, owned by The Kinks. I believe that I am the second owner, having bought that console from a used gear broker in London back in 1987 or so. For the most part, these modules have been in storage, although all of our 1059's have been tested recently and sound TREMENDOUS!

The 1059 is a predecessor to the Neve 1073, and an obvious bridge from the earlier 1053. I am told that, aside from the 1059's use of germanium transistors, the modules are *very* similar to the 1073 module which followed. Sonically, these are everything you expect from a 1060's era Neve mic pre: fat, clear and with a wonderful high end transparency. If you like 1073's, you will equally love these 1059's. On those rare occasions on which we've pulled them out to use them, they have mostly been used on drums (THUNDEROUS!), but if you listen to any 1070's Kinks, THAT'S THE SOUND!

These will arrive to you just as you see them, along with 2 x Gardners 7526 line transformers. You will then have your tech mount them into a rack, connect the Gardners 7526 and fashion a power supply.
