Very nice condition on these rare original drivers in NM condition.
While the speakers these were made for were much maligned, Altec didn't make many duds. These were reissues of classic 50s tech, that were solidly crafted.
The execution, however, was poor... in reality, these speakers will shine like no other, by simply adding a choke or active crossover at around 2k, and adding a horn or decent tweeter. They would make superior studio monitors or awesome hifi drivers.
These are pro-grade, made by the same minds that provided monitors for Abbey Rd, the Urie, big red, and occupied a place along side the majority of every great album made in the golden era.
These drivers are making a big comeback. Not the cabs they came in, but the raw drivers! Those in the know, are making awesome custom builds with these that would cost several thousands in newer builds, and adjusting for inflation, were practically what they cost back then!
