1998 Martin Special Edition 000C16R. The triple “0” is the body size, 16 means 16-Series and the “C” is for a rounded cutaway. I custom ordered this without the pick guard and received it in March of 1998. I had it delivered with an L.R. Bags Ribbon Transducer installed under the saddle.
Top is sitka spruce with aging toner, sides and back are E.I. rosewood. Fretboard, bridge and headstock overlay are E.I. rosewood. Tuners are gold, fingerboard is inlayed with slotted abalone diamonds. The bridge has slotted diamond inlays on the wings and the rosette is abalone.
Specs are: Body style is 000 with 14 frets to the body, 20 frets, top and back are bound with faux tortoise shell, 25.4” scale length, nut is 1 11/16”, bridge string spacing is 2 1/8”, body depth is 3-3/16” to 4-1/16" with flat lid wooden OHSC (green lining). The body is finished in gloss and the neck is satin with the modified oval shape. It is currently set up for light gauge strings (.012 - .053).
This is a really nice instrument. It has the traditional Sitka/Rosewood warmth, the action is low and frets show just a tiny bit of wear in the first position. I only play finger-style so there are no pick scratches. There are some small dings here and there but they are minor and I couldn’t get a photo of them. Conservatively the condition of this guitar is a 8.5 or 9 out of 10. The case shows mild wear but it is by no means worn. I take care of my instruments and they are kept in a smoke free house with the proper humidity. It will be professionally packed and shipped insured via UPS Ground. Please check my store’s Sales Policy and Feedback. No trades. This guitar is located in Roxbury, CT to see or pickup. Please check out my other items.
