A particularly special piece here – a 2020 left-handed Gibson ES-335 Block inlay in a stunning 60s Cherry finish, and quite honestly one of the nicest examples we’ve had through the shop.
This one really stands out thanks to its highly figured maple top and back. The depth and movement in the grain is exceptional, giving it a far more boutique feel than you’d typically expect. Finished in that classic cherry, it absolutely captures the look of a golden-era ES-335.
Built to Gibson’s traditional ES-335 specifications of the period, this model features a laminated maple body with a solid centre block, delivering that perfect balance between hollowbody warmth and solidbody sustain. The mahogany neck is carved to a comfortable slim 60s profile, paired with a rosewood fingerboard and classic block inlays, offering a smooth and familiar playing experience across all 22 frets.
Hardware includes the dependable Tune-o-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece combination, ensuring solid tuning stability and excellent resonance transfer. As you’d expect from a guitar of this calibre, everything feels solid, responsive and built to last.
Electrically, this example is fitted with Gibson’s MHS II humbuckers in the style of the revered PAF designs, with the correct Gibson PAF stickers on the pickup back.
Tonally, it delivers everything you’d hope for from a top-tier ES-335 – warm, woody lows, a rich and vocal midrange, and a sweet, open top end that never feels harsh. Clean tones are full and articulate with plenty of air, while pushing it into overdrive brings out a smooth, singing sustain with excellent note separation. It’s equally at home in jazz, blues, classic rock and beyond.
The condition is genuinely excellent. It has spent the vast majority of its life tucked away safely in its case, and it shows. There are barely any signs of use to note; the frets are in superb shape, and the playing action is spot on. Importantly, it remains completely original with no modifications.
A standout left-handed ES-335 with striking looks, classic Gibson build quality and the kind of tone that has made these instruments a staple for decades. A rare opportunity to pick up something a bit out of the ordinary.
