Firefly FFSA-MGN 516 Super Strat Alnico HH Coil Split 2023 - Metallic Green / Natural Mahogany

Build and finish quality are excellent on my Firefly FFSA-MGN Super Strat. Firefly continues to make improvements with upgrades to AlNiCo 5 pickups and added new features like coil splitting, two-point tremolo bridge and locking tuners.

Chrome covered Alnico 5 humbuckers can be coil split by push/pull switch on the tone control. In tone knob down position, both pickups are full humbucker. Pull tone knob up, both are split to single coil mode. With the three-way toggle pickup switch, six distinctly different tone settings are possible. The upgrade to AlNiCo 5 magnets gives these hummers sweeter tone plus more punch and less noise when adding distortion to your mix. Master tone & master volume controls with knurled chrome knobs plus all-chrome hardware plus metallic top finish combine to give this Firefly Super Strat a sleek, modern vibe.

Gloss finish metallic green top on natural mahogany back & sides with cream color top binding are pristine & clean -- no dings, scuffs or pick scratches. This one has had minimal play -- at home practice only -- no jam sessions, open mics or gigs in rowdy bars. Body contours on back: fret hand carve out, rounded neck heel with 4 bolt connection & no metal plate, wide belly cut. Front contour: forearm bevel. Double cutaway and round neck heel give outstanding access to uppermost frets.

Medium C profile roasted maple neck has smooth matte finish and features a rosewood fretboard with 22 medium jumbo stainless-steel frets with rounded ball ends and abalone dot fret inlays Roasted maple enhances neck stability because excess moisture and resins have been eliminated, so no twists or warps. Truss rod adjusts at bottom of the neck by means of easily accessible rotary wheel. Chrome rod tool is included. Bone nut slots are cut to proper depth so basic chords and notes within first five frets play easily and in tune. Action is set low with a slight hint of neck relief. No fret buzz.

Two point tremolo bridge with push-in arm and full thickness trem block enhances tuning stability. Two Allen wrenches are included for adjusting both bridge bolts and height of six saddles.

Locking tuning machines turn smoothly, hold firmly and make string changes quick and easy.

In summary: Matte finish C-shape roasted maple neck, stainless-steel ball end frets and low string action make this Firefly Super Strat play as smooth as butter, while the pretty metallic green top on natural mahogany body with well-detailed grain figuring and all-chrome hardware give a bold modern vibe. This is one solid, sweet-toned rock machine that can growl & bring the grit when needed!

Firefly provided excellent packing materials with this model: the trapezoid shipping box is filled with a styro-foam case that is form-fit to the guitar shape and the synthetic fabric sleeve prevents scratching -- great protection!
