Upgraded Metallic Black 2002 20th Anniversary model Squier® by Fender Standard Series Strat® made in China, Yako factory (Taiwan)  (CY210*****)

The Standard Series guitars have a full thickness stratocaster body routed to be able to convert to Double Fat, Fat or Single Coil pick up options, and are therefore ideal for customising. This guitar is in very reasonable condition for its age, with only minor fret wear and the natural signs of age/use sealed with nitrocellulose clear gloss chip repair (see photos). The neck and truss rod are in good condition.

The 8-hole red tortoiseshell pickguard and black tremolo back cover are replacements, and a push-pull switch has been added to provide 7-way Strat wiring. This ‘Gilmour’ mod switches the Bridge pick up on/off, adding a further 2 tones to the standard 5 way switch – (Neck and Bridge) + (Neck and Middle and Bridge).

The original machine heads have been replaced with locking tuners, and roller string trees added at the headstock, with a PRS style bridge stabiliser added to the tremolo, to ensure more stable tuning. A new whammy bar is included.

The pickups have been replaced with WILKINSON M-series “Hot” Single Coil Ceramic Pickups with flat pole pieces, which make them the perfect choice at lower volumes or if you use effects pedals, providing a great amount of natural sustain.

Measured Resistances; Bridge: 6.6k, Middle: 6.4k, Neck: 6.4k  

The bridge pickup is slightly hotter to give it a higher output and balance the pickups as a set. The middle pickup is reverse wound and reverse polarity, so that it cancels the hum when playing in position 2 & 4.

An Oak Grigsby style 5-way selector switch has been added, with Wilkinson mini 250kΩ pots used for Volume (with a treble bleed added),  and for Tone 1 (Neck Pick up) and Tone 2 Push-Pull (Middle and Bridge) with a single orange drop .047µf capacitor across them.

The guitar has a .25 degree shim added in the neck pocket to facilitate a low action and is otherwise set up to standard fender settings, with just a minor tweak to the neck and middle pick-ups to balance the tone between top and bottom strings to suit my taste.

Collection is preferred, or I can send in a guitar packing box via Parcel Force and fully insured for the value paid. I will also provide new set of strings.
