1971 Yamaha FG-500 Red Label - Rare Japanese Vintage
Up for sale is a legendary Yamaha FG-500, the crown jewel of the early "Red Label" era. Built in January 1971 (Serial No. 11210385) at the Nippon Gakki factory in Japan. The FG-500 was only produced for a short window between 1969 and 1972, making it one of the most sought-after models for Japanese vintage enthusiasts.

Guitar Condition (Very Good Players Condition)

All frets are re-fretted, so the guitar has plenty of fret life remaining.

Body looks: There are some histories on the guitar such as small dings, scratches and minor paint chips but nothing is seriously damaged

Neck looks: straight in normal playing position (Fret board has been readjusted for the right neck angle, please check photos).

No structural cracks visible from the outside.

Sound: It plays very well with a well dried light body.

Low Action for nearly 55 years old guitar:2.0mm and 2.5mm@12F

{The guitar has play wears and imperfections as below} 

  • There are some imperfections throughout the guitar such as scratches, scuffs, dings and paint chips. Overall, it’s been kept well in Original Yamaha Hard Case by the previous owner.
  • Crack in finish on left side of top repaired with laquer
  • Cloud in finish in body back centre
  • Buckle marks on body back
