G&L El Toro Bass, Lefty, OHSC, Likely NOS 1991 - Blue

Crazy, uber-rare find: 1991(?) G&L El Toro E (active) bass, Left-handed, with OHSC. Good luck finding one in better shape, let alone finding one period.

The bass itself: in near-new condition. Purchased from the estate of a long out of business music store. 0 fretwear. Truss rod turns perfectly. Electronics work great (a touch of static when pots were first moved from sitting for over 30 years). There are some very light finish scratches and when I first got it, there was dust on the neck sides of the pickups and cutaways leading me to believe it had hung in the store and was never sold. Highly possible that this is New Old Stock. The case is very clean with some protective plastic still showing and just a tiny amount of patina on some of the metal parts. Original hang tags, inspection tags (B. Carlson) etc. A few of the pictures show the hang tag on the low E tuner with the strings that were on it; I have installed a new set of strings. Weight is just a hair over 9 lbs. on my scale. Sounds great/plays great.

So, all of the research I did showed the El Toro ceased being manufactured in 1988, but the hang tag shows 5/30/91 and the neck also show 1991. The neck pocket looks to show 1984! Not sure what to make of that, but let's call this a 1991. There is an inspection number (?) of 361 that seems to be the common denominator to all of this.
