1979 Takamine F-385 Twelve String Acoustic Guitar MIJ Japan Lawsuit 12 String

Guitar was just cleaned and rosewood fretboard was oiled. A brand new set of D’addario Light Gauge Strings was just installed.

Guitar plays really well with low action. There are 2 buzzy notes that I’ve noticed: 10th fret on high E string and 13th fret on G string. May need some fret leveling or other TLC. Truss rod tested and works and neck is straight and action is low for a 12 string.

Neck heel area looks like it may have had some repair work done by previous owner. A neck reset? Reglue? Perhaps original?

Takamine / Martin Lawsuit

The "Takamine Martin lawsuit" refers to a mid-1970s period where Takamine produced Japanese-made acoustic guitars (notably the F-360S) that closely copied Martin's headstock shape, logo, and body design. Although no formal lawsuit was filed, Martin threatened legal action, causing Takamine to redesign their headstocks. 

This guitar does mimic the Martin headstock shape and the script font used on Martin guitars.
