Wolfgang Jellinghaus Manuel Ramirez 1912 Ex-Segovia Replica

This is a replica of the famous 1912 Manuel Ramirez classical guitar. A historical classical guitar replica made by luthier master Wolfgang Jellinghaus in Germany, a tribute to the original 1912 Manuel Ramirez classical guitar. The original guitar was built by luthier master Santos Hernandez in the Manuel Ramirez guitar workshop In Madrid.

In 1913, Andrés Segovia arrived in Madrid to make his debut concert at the Ateneo Theater. It is at the Manuel Ramirez guitar workshop this famous guitar came into Andres Segovia’s hands. He played this guitar for the first 25 years of his career. The original guitar is now on display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, donated courtesy of Emilita Segovia, Marquessa of Salobreña in 1986.

All details of the original guitar have been carefully reproduced with the exception of the materials used for the back and sides. For this model, luthier master Wolfgang Jellinghaus use flamed maple for the back and sides. All hand rubbed French Polish finish which will allow the guitar maximum resonance. A very impressive concert guitar, and a well produced tribute to one of history’s most iconic instruments ever made. Sadly, luthier master Wolfgang Jellinghaus passed away in 2024.

The guitar is in very good condition with some cosmetic character. Please see the last 5 pictures for these cosmetic character such as finger nail scratches along the clear tap plate on the soundboard. Scratch along the edge of the bridge tail piece. Some light surface scratches on the finish on these areas; neck, headstock, back and sides. All these light surface scratches are only visible in a certain angle. Some work has been done by an experienced classical guitar luthier with over 40 years of expertise. The work that were done are; hand rubbed French Polish was re-applied on back and sides, frets smooth for playability. Comes with Metro hardshell case as pictured offering excellent protection.
