2009 Jackson Custom Shop LTD Randy Rhodes Concord Tribute White w/ Black Pinstripes Relic 1 of 60! On December 23rd 1980, Randy Rhoads contacted Grover Jackson, then with Charvel’s Guitar Repair department, and presented a sketch of a radical new guitar body design. The resulting instrument was dubbed “the Concorde” because of its futuristic shape. This was first time the Jackson logo appeared on a guitar’s headstock. The Concorde has been called the heart from which the Jackson bloodline was created. In Guitar World Magazine’s 25 Anniversary readers poll the original Concord was voted the most iconic electric guitar ever.
In celebration of the company’s, and the guitar’s, 30th anniversary, Jackson has produced a limited edition of the Rhoads’ Concorde that replicates this historic electric guitar down to the finest detail. This was the first time the Rhoads family has actually allowed the original to be examined and measured. A number of details were revealed that were different than previously believed. The headstock and pinstrips on the Randy Rhoads guitar are actually deep metallic blue “ not black, and the binding was white “ not cream. The back of the original Randy Rhoads Concorde guitar was covered with black tape for the Diary of a Madman tour in which the band needed to be invisible to the audience.
The Jackson Custom Randy Rhoads Tribute “Concorde” Relic electric guitar features the sleek, offset “V” Rhoads style maple body finished in white. The neck is constructed out of 4 pieces of big leaf maple. The neck-through body construction gives this Jackson guitar consistency, strength, and tonal power. The ebony fingerboard facilitates the complete range of playing techniques from intricate chords to lightning fast right hand tapping. The 6-in-line headstock is fitted with Schaller locking tuners with crownhead pegs. The tremolo system expands your means of musical expression without fear of going out of tune. Unique appointments include pearl block fingerboard inlays, brass hardware, a truss rod cover engraved with RR, deep blue body pinstriping and matching headstock, and an aged “relic” finish treatment. The Jackson Randy Rhoads guitar comes with a Custom Jackson case.
The Jackson Rhoads Tribute Concorde is loaded with a Seymour Duncan SH4 humbucker in the bridge position and a Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2n humbucker in the neck position. The Seymour Duncan SH4 humbucker has been the archetype hot-rodded humbucker for over 30 years. It is great for everything from heavy blues to heavy metal. The SH4 provides slammin’ output while retaining singing highs, aggressive harmonics, and just the right blend of sustain and distortion. The Seymour Duncan Jazz SH-2n humbucker is a classic moderate output humbucker that is specially popular in neck position. It provides an articulate and clear tone that is great for fast runs. When distorted, the tone is full and bright with smooth sustain. Don’t let the name fool you; it’s not only great for jazz, but also country, blues, funk, classic rock and heavy rock. Controls include 2 volumes, two tones, and a 3-way toggle switch that is located on the top edge of the body.
Just 60 models were made, each handcrafted by Jackson Custom Shop master builder Mike Shannon, with relic work done by Chip Ellis, (the artist who created the Eddie Van Halen “Frankenstein” relic). Only 30 pieces will be released for the U.S. market and 30 internationally. Unplayed, Collector Owned 10/10! ALL Original.
