The Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass is a 4-string hollowbody bass guitar manufactured by Epiphone. Jack Casady approached Gibson (parent company of Epiphone) with the basic design, inspired by Casady's experience with the 1970s-era Gibson Les Paul Signature bass.[1]
It is a maple body, mahogany neck, semi hollow bass guitar with a single low-impedance humbucking pickup. The pickup was designed to correct what Casady perceived as a weakness of the original Les Paul Signature bass, which was a lack of tonal definition in ensemble playing situations.[2] The pickup is connected to a transformer with a three-position switch to select output impedance of 50, 250 or 500 ohms. The lower impedance values give clearer, more balanced tone while the higher impedances produce higher output with a more bass-heavy tonal profile. (Wikipedia)
This is a quite scarce Vintage Sunburst from the first Korean run in 1998. As there are numerous Chinese versions currently available for much less, this is for collectors who appreciate the rare significance. No mods.
100% original including the hard-shell case. 34-inch scale.
Weighs 8 pounds 2.8 ounces.
Includes a replacement custom black and white Gibson style five-layer pickguard, with the distinctive wide white fourth lamination as used on 1940's to 1970's Gibsons. Just a cool little touch. Also included, a couple of black knobs to match. Original parts also included.
Currently strung with Jack's choice of Dean Mark Markley Blue Steel strings, this bass has a wide sonic range available, especially with the low impedance pickup. Sounds great for many different styles of music, and light weight to boot. 8#s 2.8ozs.
When I met Jack in 1998, he was very proud of how the pickup turned out after working on it for over a year. Much better than the Gibson he played for about 5 years.
I'm the second owner of this bass. I got it from a dude in Telluride who left the marks on it down by the output jack. I've owned it for about 20 years. Hate to see it go. Also, some minor button marking on the back of the body.
Overall, in beautiful condition. Those minor scratches would buff right out, if so inclined.
