From Cool-Z, the original brand of Shimamura Music known for its reliable Made in Japan quality, comes a new series that was the first in the Cool-Z lineup to feature a basswood body.
This series is called the “V Series.”

Cool-Z is Shimamura Music’s house brand, and its instruments are manufactured by Fujigen, the renowned Japanese factory responsible for producing many high-quality Japanese instruments, including those for Fender Japan.

Basswood is generally lightweight, offering comfortable playability and reduced fatigue. It is also valued for its consistent quality and accessible pricing. Tonally, basswood provides a neutral and balanced sound, making it easy to shape tones with amplifiers and effects.

Despite its affordable price, this model offers Fender Japan–level build quality along with modern playability, making it an excellent choice for beginners through intermediate players.

The neck is finished using a proprietary special process, resulting in a grip that feels immediately broken-in, like a well-played vintage guitar. This finish supports smooth fingering and reliable position shifts, even when hands become sweaty.

The frets feature Cool-Z’s unique Circle Fretting System. By installing the frets in a subtle arc, a true single scale length is achieved across all strings, reducing chord intonation discrepancies between positions and delivering more accurate pitch. This design also improves clarity, sustain, and overall tonal balance, providing added power and definition when using distortion.

Additionally, the fret ends are smoothly finished, allowing for effortless fingering and precise position changes that help bring out the player’s full expressive potential.

Hardware includes GOTOH GB1 tuners and a JB700 vintage spiral-style bridge, offering outstanding performance and reliability at this price point.
