PDP American Vintage

This is a PDP American Vintage kit. Sizes: Bass 22x14; Floor 14x14; Rack 12x8.

The kit is in fantastic condition, including the shells, wrap, bearing edges, and chrome.

This kit is a gem and worth it, so I added some upgrades in the hardware...

Less than 100 of these kits were made in this finish, black oyster glass. The finish on this kit has a gold undertone to the sparkle, which mostly comes as the drums age. This particular kit gained the gold undertone in a very uniform manner, which doesn't always happen. It looks fantastic under the lights!

You can note in the pictures, I added polished brass t-nut insets on the lugs. It is a very cool and subtle upgrade that really pops with the gold sparkle wrap. I also upgraded to Pearl Fat Tone hoops, a significant aesthetic and sonic improvement!

The final touch is a set of Aquarian Classic Clear over Remo Ambassadors heads. I also added the Aquarian Super Kick I and a DW Classic Reso with custom cut mic port. All the heads are mostly new. I have played them a few times.

There is one issue; two of the floor tom leg brackets cracked. They could easily be replaced. I just didn't get around to it. I acquired the kit with those cracks. Otherwise the kit is absolutely perfect!

This kit is gem, very rare as it was, and truly one-of-a-kind with the brass t-nuts and Fat Tone hoops.

For those who don't know. These are Keller mahogany/poplar shells, with maple reinforcement rings. The word is DW assembled these drums with new 'old-stock' in their Oxnard plant as they transitioned into their own DW manufactured shells. These were the only PDP drums ever made in America.
