- About Toyogakki
Toyo Gakki was a Japanese manufacturer known primarily for producing vintage hardshell instrument cases in the 1970s and 1980s. They did not build guitars themselves, but their cases were commonly supplied with or intended for popular Japanese-made "lawsuit-era" guitars from brands like Greco, Ibanez, and Tokai. Key characteristics of vintage Toyo Gakki cases include:
- Construction: Sturdy yet often lightweight hardshell with Tolex covering.
- Interior: Often featured a distinctive yellow or orange-yellow felt lining.
- Branding: The latches or interior may be explicitly branded with "Toyogakki Japan".
- Fit: They were made in various shapes to fit specific models, such as Les Paul or Stratocaster styles, sometimes with an arched top design
