And now, one from the vault…….
These things have a great reputation for a reason - they were custom shop level Strat builds at a USA entry level price. This is a 1994 Hamer Daytona in deep blue with a maple fingerboard - plays and sounds fantastic. All stock with Seymour Duncan SSL-1’s, Sperzel locking tuners, and a Wilkinson VSVG trem (super smooth). The neck on this one has a flatter than usual fingerboard radius (14” I believe), and a rounded medium sized neck profile ( I get .860 1st/.895 12th fret)
This one is pretty clean overall, but it wasn’t a case queen. There’s a couple of light impressions on the top, a small patch of buckle rash on the back, and wear on the tops of the bridge saddles (this was a friend’s #1 for many years, and was gigged regularly). The frets however are in excellent shape- no grooves, and just the tiniest bit of flattening on the tops of a few (medium jumbos on this one)
There’s one other part of the Hamer Daytona reputation that’s also well-deserved - this one has a northern ash body, and it’s a chonky boy at basically 9 lbs even (technically 8 lbs. 15.5 oz. but hey, who’s counting…..). It’s a remarkably lively guitar, though - it has the rare combination of both sustain and sparkle.
The original case was long ago lost to the sands of time, so this one comes with a Levy’s gigbag - does have the original trem arm, wrenches, and even the Hamer warranty card (might be a bit out of date, though - lol)
