For sale is a gorgeous, near mint condition Gibson Victory Artist Bass from 1982! This bass looks, plays and sounds incredible. Everything is factory original including the hard shell case.

The finish is nearly perfect with no dings, dents or buckle rash anywhere to be found. Tiny little surface scratches show up if the light hits the gloss jet black finish and pick guard the right way. All the chrome is shiny and non-tarnished.

The bridges on these basses are proper! This was the fist Gibson bass that uses a properly designed and highly adjustable bridge that is a machined masterpiece. Heavy yes, but the tone more than justifies the weight!!

Speaking of weight, these are known to be very heavy basses but this one isn’t too bad weighing in at 11.0 lbs on the dot. It is a very substantial and well built bass!

The Victory Artist is the dual pickup active version of the Victory series of basses and the most totally versatile with multiple pickup and tone configurations as well as the ability to switch it into passive mode. Look up this bass on Fly Guitars’ website for extremely thorough information on these basses.

The controls are 3 nobs being master volume 0-10 at the top, Bass boost/cut +16db\-18db (5-0-5) in the middle and Treble boost/cut +16db\-18db (5-0-5) at the bottom.

The two 3-way toggle switches are pickup selection of neck, neck/bridge, bridge at the top and passive, active “notch” with a deep -12db notch filter at 1khz and the last switch position is active full-range. Tons of tonal control on this bass and it sounds fantastic in its passive mode as well as active. Very quiet pickups too so you really can gain this thing up.

The neck is arguably the star of the show with a really nice low profile fast playing shape. Truss rod adjustment is easily accessible behind the “artist” badge on the headstock and the brass nut keeps the tone resonating down the strings. The frets are in great shape with very little signs of wear.

My hunch is this was a quintessential example of a closet classic bass before going to the music store I bought it from. The hard shell case is in pristine condition and contains the original manual along with both lock keys for the case.

This is an amazing bass that needs a new loving home! If you’ve been looking for a Gibson Victory Bass, you will have a hard time finding a nicer one than this. I promise you will love this bass!

I will over pack this for shipping to ensure it arrives to you in perfect condition. I have shipped many vintage instruments and I take protecting them from shipping and handling very seriously.

Please contact me with any questions you might have about the bass. Also contact me if you would like me to send a Dropbox link to a video of this bass playing through all the different controls so you can hear and see that everything functions as it should.

Thank you.
