Frenzel Tube Amps Princeton Plexi 964 2024 - Standard

Lightly used near mint version of these hand-wired, made in America amps. Description from Frenzel's website is below. Note that the F and M inputs on this version are wired to the opposite gain control. Came to me that way. It could be fixed with a couple of quick solders to switch the wires at the input jacks. To my ears the M channel the bright channel and the F is the normal channel. At any rate, both sound great. It has tube bias tremolo (you can watch the tubes modulate when its working), and an upgrade for a tube rectifier.

It's an incredibly well made amp. Cost for a new one is $1,225 before shipping and taxes.

The FRENZEL  "Princeton Plexi 964"   is the newest version of our Mini Guitar amp series. It was "INSPIRED" by the  50's Fender Princeton...but it is a much more than a clone.  It has two separate preamp channels, one voiced like  the Fender Princeton Blackface  and one voiced like the Marshall Plexi.  The F and M channels have separate input jacks and gain controls which allows you to use an AB/Y switch to select one channel for Clean and one for Lead or  to combine the channels together for your own unique tones.  The voices are contoured by a modified Fender  style three band tone stack accentuated with a modified Presence control which has an "Edge" boost pull-switch to control the negative feedback for dynamic soaring leads. We also  added a Master control which allows you to control and shape the preamp and output stage overdrive tones.  A classic  vibe tremolo oscillator modulates the bias on the output stage  which uses   a pair of  push-pull 6V6's that produce the warm blues and jazz tones that made the  Princeton one of Eric Clapton's favorite amps. For those that prefer the Marshall rock tones, we  added a EL34/6V6 bias switch that allows you to use EL34's in place of the 6V6's. The  output transformer is a heavy duty  extended range type with 4-8-16 ohm outputs designed to produce with crystal clarity all the high, mid, bass tones...plus the harmonics that your instrument creates.  When playing clean, this amp will faithfully reproduce what you put into it...and when you stomp on it...it  will produce tones you have never heard before!  It works great with guitar, mandolin, bass, organ, piano, harp and strings.
