1980s Vintage Akai RC-5 Infrared Remote Control Unit - Complete with Cables

Here I have for sale what appears to be a somewhat hard-to-find early 1980s RC-5 remote control unit from Akai.  This came to me in an auction lot of other equiment but is of no use to me - hopefully of interest to a vintage hi-fi enthusiast somewhere.

Rudimentary web searching indicates this was originally sold with the Akai UC-5 mini hi-fi system, but it appears compatible with a range of Akai equipment, reel-to-reels etc. with 8-pin remote controller inputs.  I'm afraid I can't provide any more information on it than that.

The set is complete in its original box, consisting of the RC-5R remote control unit and RC-5T hand remote controller.  Both are in mint visual condition.  The hand remote controller battery compartment is also completely clean.

Also included are the original 3 x 8-pin DIN leads and power cord, all still in their original packaging (the power cord has not even been terminated with a plug).  There is also an Akai service centre brochure in the box. 

I'm selling the unit as 'used' on the basis it is in such good visual condition, but please note it is completely untested by me as I don't have the means to do so.  If a buyer finds that on receipt it does not work for some reason, I will of course be happy to accept a return provided it is sent back to me in the same physical condition.
