2002 Bruce Sexauer FT-00-C
I'll be fine if this does not sell but something rare I've been looking for has come up and of course I just bought a high end banjo last week. For marital harmony's sake I'm putting up for sale this wonderful guitar with the logic that being one of the few new (as in not vintage) guitars in my collection it is the easiest replaceable down the line. Bruce's guitars with his "standard trim" like this one now start at $18K. This one has some wear but all the sound and is priced at a ridiculous bargain in the hopes of moving it before the other guitar I want sells.
This guitar is from right after when Bruce started building for Eric Schoenberg. Made from Adirondack spruce and Indian Rosewood, it is a 25.4" scale 00 12 fretter with a cutaway. It features an ebony head plate and back strapping, ebony bound fretboard, ebony bridge, and the wood on the cutaway is also ebony, echoing the headstock. Rosewood binding and flamed maple purfling. The nut width is 1 3/4" and the neck has wonderful, full rounded late 1930s Martin feel to it. I believe it to be the only Sexauer with the unique headstock shape which pays tribute to Martin's 12 fret headstocks but with a modern spin. Hand cut pearl Sexauer logo and bird inlays.
The guitar has been played but is in fine shape with no cracks or fret wear. There is some pickwear above and below the pickguard and a few shallow dings here and there. Bruce uses a thin varnish finish that adds to the tone but is softer than nitro or modern UV cured finishes.
Guitar plays perfectly with low action after a recent pro set-up done. It is balanced but loud with lots of overtones. Sorry for the messy basement but check out the video for an idea of what a magnificent guitar this is. Comes in a perfect fitting TKL case.
