Castledine Wizard Germanium Distortion Clone
Hand-wired clone of the Castledine Wizard, a rare germanium transistor distortion that emulates the classic Tony Iommi/Black Sabbath sound, which is a Rangemaster treble booster driving a cranked Plexi.
The design of this pedal is essentially the Rangemaster circuit built into a Marshall preamp emulation, and the result is an excellent recreation of the guitar tones from early Sabbath records.
Controls: Volume, Treble, Gain
There is also an internal trimpot that can be used to adjust the bias of the transistor. Adjusting this will change the character of the distortion and the amount of maximum gain, but will also introduce noise as it is increased.
Features
- Top-mounted jacks to save pedalboard space
- Premium powder coat finish
- True bypass switching with status LED
- High quality switches, jacks and components
- Runs on standard 9V DC power supply (no batteries)
