Condition
This bass is in Excellent condition. There are few signs of prior use such as fine surface scratches and dings, and minimal fret wear. Upon close inspection, a light patina is visible on the tuning keys. There are a few spots on the back of the body that show minor discoloration in the finish where there used to be stickers. We have emphasized them in photos for clarity in the listing, but they are difficult to see in normal lighting. The truss rod is in good working order with adjustability in both directions. The neck is straight with no signs of warping or waviness. The electronics are in perfect working order with no modification. We have completed a comprehensive multi-point inspection to ensure functionality and condition are as stated. This bass has been professionally set up with D’Addario EXL 45-100 strings with medium action, optimal relief, accurate intonation up and down the neck and dialed-in pickup height. There are currently strap-lock style strap buttons installed. If you’d like standard strap buttons, let us know when you place your order and we’ll swap them out at no additional cost.
This bass weighs 9.7 pounds and feels well balanced in use. A brand new Fender FB620 gig bag with ample 20mm padding has been included to ensure this bass stays protected during transport and storage. We have hard case options available for an additional cost, please reach out by message for additional information.
Overview
A variant of the made in Japan JB62 1962 Jazz Bass reissue, this spot order JB62-PJ features several well chosen modifications to the standard early 2010s catalog version. The beautiful Transparent Blue finish allows the natural grain and figuring of the alder body to subtly show through and is complimented by a 3-ply white pearloid pickguard. A high mass zinc alloy Badass II bridge has been selected in place of the standard vintage style spiral bridge. Standard jazz bass knobs have been swapped out for domed chrome knobs.
The gloss finish maple neck sports Transparent Blue matching headstock and Jazz Bass familiar 1.5-inch (38.1mm) wide real bone nut and classic U-profile. The neck profile provides a bit of shoulder while still feeling quick and comfortable (width and depth specs above). 20 expertly finished Vintage size frets and white pearloid position markers sit atop the very dark chocolate-toned thick slab rosewood fingerboard with 7.25-inch radius.
Electronics and Tone
The select alder body does a fantastic job providing tight, punchy bass and midrange growl while maintaining overall balance and clarity. Fender Japan Vintage-Style Precision and Jazz Bass pickups do a great job of conjuring up a combination of our favorite aspects of early 1960s Precision and Jazz Bass tones. The P-style neck pickup is punchy and fat, with rich bass and midrange while still maintaining clarity and note definition. The bridge pickup helps dish out lovely midrange growl and defined, snappy treble. Controls are traditional neck pickup volume, bridge pickup volume, and master tone. High quality made in Japan pots and poly film tone capacitor complete the electronics package. Want to upgrade to an Orange Drop or paper-in-oil capacitor or other electronics prior to shipping?
