Over the years, I've owned and played modified pedals from all of the aforementioned companies (all good people and many I consider friends, I might add). I've combined the best features from these various mods and incorporated my own based on my exhaustive research and development. The result is, what I feel, simply the best tremolo pedal available at any price. In its stock form, the early versions of the Boss TR-2 suffers from a notorious volume drop when the effect is engaged. To remedy this, I add a dual depth / volume pot to the top of the pedal (I can also add a separate volume pot on the side instead) - which can also serve as a clean boost with the rate and depth knobs turned down. It's like having two pedals in one! I also upgrade many circuit components to add richness, clarity and fidelity to the tremolo. The difference between my modified pedal and a stock unit is astounding. It's quieter too! Lastly, I upgrade the knobs and add a bi-color LED which flashes when the effect is bypassed - providing an easy visual indication of your rate setting. Professionally installed. Requires 9 volt battery or DC power (battery and power supply not included). I am meticulous in my work. I pay attention to the details - including cleaning / lubricating all jacks and pots, replacing any worn or missing battery straps, grommets and screws and fully testing every function prior to shipment.
