Get ready for a wild story. Here is a 1995 Gibson J-200, Blonde, with Maple Back and Sides, in UNPLAYED condition. It has been in storage for thirty years, absolutely untouched. It is perfect in every way. From the Ren Ferguson era, and beyond Mint Condition.
So, what’s the story on this guitar? Back in 1995, two brothers decided they were going to start a rock and roll band. They bought all of the equipment they would need: guitars, amps, a bass, drums, microphones, cables, the lot. The only fly in the ointment was this; neither of them could play an instrument! And, as it turned out, neither of them took the time to learn, so everything went into storage, unplayed and unloved. And there it has sat for thirty years. A lot of the gear was not of the highest quality, but among the guitars, two stood out, and we bought both of them. So, in addition to this J200, there is a separate listing for an unplayed Vintage Sunburst Gibson ES335.
The other point of interest is that the brothers, since they couldn’t play, didn’t go to a guitar store to buy their gear. They ordered it online, probably from Musician’s Friend. So, the guitars don’t even have the normal wear and tear of having been played a bit in a store. They came directly out of the warehouse and both guitars are absolutely pristine. They still have their original Gibson strings on them, now thirty years old (we’ll toss a new set in the case, but want you to have the experience of playing this J200 as it came from the factory).
What we are selling in this listing is a 1995 Gibson J200, Blonde, with Curly Maple Back and Sides, Factory stock, and unplayed. It is entirely original with no wear and tear whatsoever. By the way, 1995 makes this a Ren Ferguson era J200, a time known for the finest quality guitar building and the great tone woods used!
Gibson typically ships acoustic guitars to dealers in need of some final set-up work. Saddles are on the high side and, at the shop, the guitar’s action is adjusted to suit the clientele, climate or particular customer. We checked the nut slot depths, lowered the saddle and adjusted the neck relief. Beyond that, this guitar is as it shipped from Bozeman. It comes in the original case with all of the original case candy. The action is 5/64ths on the Low E and 1/16th on the High E, at the twelfth fret.

At thirty years old, this guitar is well on the way to Vintage status, and it hasn’t been played yet (except by me, for the accompanying video)! It just amazes me to find an instrument of this quality, in this condition. In my own collection, I have a J200 and a J100, each of which has Maple Back and Sides. I’ve played the Rosewood models and gang, there is a BIG difference. The clarity of the sound projected by Maple is what makes this model of guitar, the finest Gibson flat top ever made. Don’t miss out on this opportunity; you won’t see another like it.
For obvious reasons, this J200 is being sold AS IS and is not returnable unless it arrives in a condition other than as described or photographed, here. In other words, unless it is damaged in transit, it can not be returned.
