This is a meticulously customized 1996 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Ebony, paying authentic tribute to Kirk Hammett’s iconic 1989 guitar—created well before Gibson’s ultra-exclusive Murphy Labs signature model. Expertly relic’d, it features beautifully checked nitrocellulose lacquer, giving it a highly authentic vintage appearance, easily rivaling Murphy Labs' finest work.
Originally crafted at Gibson USA (not Custom Shop), this Les Paul Custom has been enhanced with genuine EMG active pickups and Sperzel black locking tuners, precisely replicating Kirk Hammett’s famous instrument. All hardware is tastefully upgraded to black, perfectly completing its aesthetic.
Note: The guitar previously had a professionally repaired headstock break using dual spline reinforcements, ensuring exceptional stability. Kirk Hammett himself has mentioned appreciating guitars with repaired headstocks for tonal enhancements—so consider it an upgrade Kirk would approve!
