2001 Martin 000-16SGT 12-Fret

 If you’ve been on the lookout for an affordable Martin 000 for a while, you may have seen this listing. You may have been almost ready to pull the trigger on it when I made an offer and snatched it away.

 But… I’ve been playing nylon strings for a long time, and decided I’d like to try switching to a triple 0 steel string guitar with a 12-fret neck, and the truth is I can’t make the transition, even though I’m just an all thumbs, rug-beater of a player. It wasn’t a smart decision. I couldn’t adjust to the fingerboard width (1-11/16 inch). After the first five days, I stopped trying to play this guitar and went back to my nylon string classical.

 I’m pretty much copying the original description that enticed me below—with some editing. Of course, the real enticement was the price, which I have reduced even more. (Martins have gotten so incredibly expensive!)

 This is one of the first 200 examples of this model that Martin produced in 2001—with ebony fretboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle and Waverly tuners. (They then switched to a Richlite fingerboard and bridge, Corian nut and saddle.) This guitar has a working passive (after market) pickup of unknown brand.

 There is a repaired crack on the top side that has been glued and cleated and the finish professionally touched up. It is almost invisible from the outside (see photo #4). This guitar plays like butter with a very comfortable neck and a fantastic voice. It comes with super heavy duty Ameritage travel case 2001.
